Paul Ryan '86

Named Executive Producer of Dateline

In January 2024, Paul Ryan, Literature and Communications, and Dyson College of Arts and Sciences Advisory Board Member, was named the executive producer of NBC’s long-running news show, Dateline. Ryan will manage the broadcast, streaming, and podcast entities associated with the brand. Ryan joined Dateline in 2011, most recently serving as senior producer, overseeing investigations such as the Alex Murdaugh trial and the University of Idaho murders. He has received multiple News & Documentary Emmy Awards and a pair of Edward R. Murrow Awards, a recognition that honors “outstanding achievements in broadcast and digital journalism.”

Named to Forbes’s “30 Under 30” List

Juliana Martins, Communication and Media Studies, made Forbes magazine’s “30 Under 30” North America list for media as the founder of Eleven11 Media Relations, a media relations company launched in 2020 in New York City to support brands that could not afford to sign with large agencies after the COVID-19 pandemic. Her company has brought in six figures of revenue in 2022 alone, working on past projects with names such as Shaquille O’Neal and Grammy-nominated singer Kesha.

Juliana Martins ’19

Named to Forbes’s “30 Under 30” List

Yomara Lopez ’12

Emmy Award–Winning Journalist

Yomara Lopez, Communications, is a bilingual and investigative reporter, most recently for NBC Universal Telemundo in California, and three-time Emmy Award–winning journalist. She won her first Emmy with Univision Sacramento in 2019 for coverage of the Camp Fire, the deadliest fire in the history of California. As part of that experience, she spent months in Paradise, a city that was wiped out by the fire, speaking to survivors and those who lost everything. In 2023, she won two Emmys with Telemundo in the Bay Area: one for best daily news report story for coverage on a rat infestation problem in one of the largest unhoused encampments in Santa Clara County, and another for an educational piece on inmates getting a second chance in education through a college credit program at Elmwood Correctional Complex in Milpitas. 

Kelly Whritenour ’18

Emmy Award–Winning Sports Broadcaster

As a media management technical specialist at the Major League Baseball (MLB)/National Hockey League (NHL) Network, Kelly Whritenour, Digital Cinema and Filmmaking, was part of a 2019 Emmy Award–winning broadcast team. She was responsible for processing, archiving, restoring, and delivering all content at the MLB Network/NHL Network for live-air and digital use. As a specialist, she led new-hire training, collaborated with major streaming partners, and worked at large events such as the World Series, MLB All-Star Game, and MLB London Series. The team was the gatekeeper to all the media, with a significant portion of consumer-facing content running through her department.

Kelly Whritenour ’18
